While your clothes are washing or while your clothes are drying, you may find yourself bored and wanting to kill time so why not get some exercise in? Over the next few months, we’ll fill you in on three walks you can complete under one hour in various New Zealand towns. First one up is our windy capital of Wellington, which offers a diverse range of options from easy beach strolls to challenging hill hikes. If on a laundry escape jaunt, you’ll want to stay fairly close to home to save time so we hope one of these three options are nearby!
- Truscott North Circular Walk in Johnsonville – Just under 1km, this loop walk starts off challenging with a steep climb first 15 minutes or so. Once you reach the top, you are awarded with stunning views of Ohariu Valley. The full walk takes 45 minutes and with nearly 200 stairs, it’s a sure work out! Begin and end the trip at the Truscott Ave Car Park.
- Salvation Bush Walk in Karori – An easy 1km loop on Wrights Hill takes just 45 minutes and travels through dense regenerating bush. And if you have more time up your sleeve, you can opt for the Lookout Loop Walk, which is 2.4km and takes 90 minutes. Park your car at the Middle Car Park on Wrights Hill Road for either option.
- Kowhai Walk in Kelburn – The fastest option, this 15 minute walk in the Wellington Botanic Garden offers lovely city views and historical buildings. It starts and ends at the Cable Car Lookout.
Exercising during laundry time is therapeutic, fun, and makes time go by so much quicker so we hope you Wellingtonians enjoy your walks.
