Spring is now here and we couldn’t be happier. Longer days, warmer weather, and the perfect season to prepare for another great summer. Spring cleaning is the best way to kick off this time of year to start fresh after a dreary cold season – even though it can be challenging, it’s definitely rewarding. Believe us, you’ll feel lighter and more relaxed once the job is done.
We hope these tips make the process a lot smoother and faster for you – it may even motivate you to get moving. Happy spring cleaning!
MAKE A SCHEDULE
It’s always best to tackle each room at a time starting with the one that needs the most work. Creating a schedule will help you stay focused and on track.
PREP AND PROTECT
If you suffer from allergies then you will want to consider gentle products along with protective gear like gloves, masks, or even an apron.
LET GO
Decluttering is one of the most important tasks during a spring clean as clutter only causes stress. Have the strength to let go of whatever you don’t need or use – this will contribute to that lighter feeling we mentioned.
WORK TOP TO BOTTOM
When cleaning, always work from the top as debris and grim will end up traveling down to the bottom. If you work from the bottom up then you’ll just be causing yourself extra work.
GO NATURAL
Why use toxins that can harm your skin or lungs, when you can use natural products that polish and kill bacteria like vinegar, lemon, baking soda, etc. Essential oils also have antibacterial and antifungal properties that even make things smell fresh.
GET DIRTY
Don’t be scared to get dirty, especially when tackling the bathroom and kitchen. Cleaning can be unpleasant, but remember, it needs to be done.
USE A CHECKLIST
Just like a schedule, a checklist will make the process easier and keep you on track. We found this one below that pretty much sums up everything you need to worry about in each room.
