Which SwiftDry T Bar clothesline model should I choose?

Customers often say, I want a T bar clothesline but I’m not sure which model I should choose? This is a good question, and here at SwiftDry, we have 3 different models which each have their own advantages, specifications and prices.

The first consideration should be, how much line space do you need for your washing? If you are just hanging washing out for yourself, you probably only need a smaller amount of line then if you have a large family and have lots of washing every day, then you will definitely want the biggest option available.

Next you need to consider how much space do I have available? We recommend that you allow up to a metre free on each side of your T bar clothesline (width), so that’s when the wind blows your washing ideally it does not rub on trees or the side of your house. When considering the distance you will install your two T bar posts apart (length), it is generally best to have a minimum of 2.5 m so you have enough line length to hang out your sheets and maximum span for our largest coastline model is 5 m between the posts.

Another consideration is what ground surface are you installing into? Do you have an existing concrete pad or path, an area you are planning to concrete or pave, or will be in the middle of your lawn? If you have existing concrete, the best option is the surface mounted coastline, which you can bolt down into your concrete. If you are installing a T bar in softish soil the best option is to use the Coastline in-ground model (which is the most popular) with a brace bar to make sure that if over time the soil gives way the T bar’s do not start leaning towards each other as they do have the lines all tensioned and pulling towards each other. If you are installing in really solid ground, or in a continuous path, or concrete pad you do not need the brace bar. The option of using ground sleeves is also ideal if you need to remove the whole clothesline from time to time, or if you are planning to move to a new house in a years’ time and would like to take the clothesline with you. About 50% of our Customers choose this option.

In conclusion, the best and our biggest seller is the SwiftDry Coastline as it has all the premium features including Dulux textura black powder coating over the galvanised steel round pipe, height adjustability, the option to use a brace bar if needed when installing into soil, premium galvanised wire line which is tensioned with stainless steel turnbuckles, eight individual lines across 1.2 m of width and the option to span up to 5 m between the posts giving 40 m of line space. The SwiftDry Classic is the best option if you don’t need all the premium features but still need height adjustability, this model comes with PVC coated wire, galvanised square section steel silver finish, and is 1 m wide with a lines and a span of up to 4.5 m between your posts, and 36 m of line space. The very popular DandyLine T bar clothesline is budget friendly and is going to last for ever, perfectly suited for rental properties or to do the job properly without breaking the bank. It is super tough and will last forever without maintenance or breaking. It’s made from galvanised silver finished round pipe, does not have height adjustability so it is best to install it with the lines standard at 1.8 m above the ground. It has four galvanised wire lines spread across 800 mm of width, and a maximum recommended span of up to 4 m between the posts which will give you 16 m of line space.
